Academic Career
LL.M. and PhD in Law at the Gama Filho University, Geraldo Prado has taken part in post-doctorate studies on History of the Ideas and Legal Culture at the Coimbra University. He is a visiting professor at the Autónoma University of Lisbon, where he participates in the RATIO LEGIS – Legal Sciences Research and Development Centre. He taught Criminal Procedural Law at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro from 2004 to 2020. He is an author of published books and articles in Brazil and abroad.

Geraldo Prado Legal Consulting Firm was established in 2012 by Geraldo Prado in cooperation with some of the most relevant Criminal Law Firms of Brazil and Portugal.
A former member of the bench and of the prosecution
27 years of experience as an appellate judge of the Rio de Janeiro State Court and a State Prosecutor from the Rio de Janeiro State Prosecution Office, Geraldo Prado has also taken part in the Committee of the Ministry of Justice for the Reform of the Code of Criminal Procedure in 2009.

Geraldo Prado is a member of the Brazilian Institute of Procedural Law, the Rio de Janeiro Criminology Institute, the Brazilian Institute of Criminal Sciences, the Bahia Institute of Criminal Procedural Law and the Permanent Committee of Criminal Law from the Institute of Brazilian Lawyers. Abroad, Geraldo Prado is an ongoing contributor of the Portuguese Journal of Criminal Science and takes part in the International Association of Penal Law, the Iberoamerican Institute of Procedural Law and, as an investigator, in the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminal Sciences of the University of Lisbon and in the RATIO LEGIS – Legal Sciences Research and Development Centre, of the Autónoma University of Lisbon, with research on the field of Market, Regulation and Taxation: the role of the Superior Institutions of Financial Control in the promotion of good governance.
